چکیده

Inclusive photoproduction of D mesons has been measured for photon-proton centre-of-mass energies in the range 130 < W < 280GeV and photon virtuality Q < 1GeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 37 pb. Total and differential cross sections as functions of the D transverse momentum and pseudorapidity are presented in restricted kinematical regions and the data are compared with next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD calculations using the “massive charm” and “massless charm” schemes. The measured cross sections are generally above the NLO calculations, in particular in the forward (proton) direction. The large data sample also allows the study of dijet production associated with charm. A significant resolved as well as a direct photon component contribute to the cross section. Leading order QCD Monte Carlo calculations indicate that the resolved contribution arises from a significant charm component in the photon. A massive charm NLO parton level calculation yields lower cross sections compared to the measured results in a kinematic region where the resolved photon contribution is significant. Hard Photoproduction at HERA

In view of possible photoproduction studies in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions at the LHC, we briefly review the present theoretical understanding of photons and hard photoproduction processes at HERA, discussing the production of jets, light and heavy hadrons, quarkonia, and prompt photons. We address in particular the extraction of the strong coupling constant from photon structure funct...

Jet cross sections and αs in deep inelastic scattering and photoproduction at HERA

Recent ZEUS measurements of inclusive-jet and dijet cross sections in neutral current deep inelastic ep scattering at HERA are presented. The data correspond to more than a two-fold increase in statistics compared to previous studies. The cross sections are measured in the Breit frame, for boson virtualities of Q > 125 GeV, as functions of various kinematic and jet observables. The data are fou...

Photoproduction of jets at HERA in next-to-leading order QCD

A new next-to-leading order Monte Carlo program for the calculation of jet cross sections in photoproduction is described. The contributions from both resolved and direct components are included to O(ααs). Properties of the predictions for various inclusive jet and dijet observables are discussed and comparisons with HERA data are presented. PACS number(s): 12.38.Bx,13.60.Hb,14.70.Bh Typeset us...

Measurement of dijet cross sections for events with a leading neutron in photoproduction at HERA

Differential cross sections for dijet photoproduction in association with a leading neutron using the reaction e+ + p → e+ + n + jet + jet +Xr have been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 6.4 pb−1. The fraction of dijet events with a leading neutron in the final state was studied as a function of the jet kinematic variables. The cross sections were measure...

Inclusive Dijet Production at HERA: Direct Photon Cross Sections in Next-To-Leading Order QCD

We have calculated inclusive two-jet cross sections in next-to-leading order QCD for direct photoproduction in low Q2 ep collisions at HERA. Infrared and collinear singularities in real and virtual contributions are cancelled with the phase space slicing method. Analytical formulas for the different contributions giving the dependence on the slicing parameter are presented. Various oneand two-j...

Heavy Flavor in Photoproduction at HERA

Recent results on charm and beauty photoproduction at HERA are discussed. The perturbative QCD calculations are generally smaller than the measured cross sections, particularly in the forward (proton) direction. The study of charm dijet photoproduction is consistent with a significant contribution of charm excitation processes.
